TiMe MaNaGeMeNt.....what's the big deal?

Okay....let's be openly honest and brutal....this is a skill that I do not possess as well as I like to pretend.

Why is time management so important?
What do you do that helps you stay on task and complete things in a timely manner?
Where or how did you learn these much needed skills?

  1. Your iPhone is your friend!!! Try iHomework...it is a great tool that helps keep you ontrack with assignments.

I also find that breaking assignments down to a day by day list is helpful so that I don't get overwhelmed.

  2. Time management is important to different things in different ways. Making dinner, you have to know when to start different items so that they get done at the right time. Homework, you want to make sure that you have the work done with time to make sure that it's the best you can do. Good time management can help stress levels as well. Stress peeks when you suddenly realize "crap I forgot to do..."

I find it easier to stay on task when I know exactly what is depending on my finishing a project. Doing something just for myself rarely motivates me, but knowing that what I do effects my family etc gets me going.

No one has the same way of practicing good time management. I think you learn what works for you. Some people can remember what they need to do easily and others have to plan every minute. Practice makes it much easier. Paying attention to how long different things take you to do can be a great first step. You can then take that and plan how much time things will take more effectivly. And make sure to give yourself more time then you think you will need, especially if there are outside influences that you just can't control or are unsure of the time they will take. And have a few things that you can fit into a day but that don't need a specific time or even to be finished. That way if you find you've given yourself a lot of time for a project, you can fill the time with one of your side projects.

  3. I would be interested in information on family support systems. Our family is very diverse so we are always looking for programs that teach our children special skills and groups with fun activities. What I dont take time for is ME as a Mother I find that I always pull up in last place for fun or educational activites, so I would be interested in something that I could use to broaden my own personal growth curve.
